FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

SERVICING MAP
How much does would the solar project cost?
It depends. For residential, some solar projects are completely free. Other's may cost up $50,000. When we quote a project, it depends largely on the following two factors:
1. LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS - The more local benefits available, the less the project cost. The less benefits available, the customer will be asked to subsidize the project cost.

2. PROPERTY CHARACTERISTICS - If the current property is ideal for a solar upgrade (ie. high sun exposure, compatible roof structure.), than the cost of the project will be lower or even completely covered.

Qualififying

How do I know if I qualify?
If a Copper Eagle team member reached out to you directly via mail or phone call, you likely have already been pre-qualified. Qualification is based on property location and property characteristics. (ie, ideal property for solar or electrification project)
Savings

Who much will I save with solar on my electric bill?
The average residential savings is anywhere between $800 - $3,000 per year.
Who get's the excess energy from solar panels if I do not use the energy?
If you give excess energy to your local electric utility, they will then owe you that same amount of energy back in the future, free of charge. This is true, regardless of whether you own or lease your solar panels. On January 1st of each year, the amount that the utility owes you, however, is wiped clean.
Billing
If I get solar, do I still have to pay my local electric bill?
Yes, you still have to pay your electric bill. However, your bill should be significantly less.
If I get solar, and government incentives get removed, is my electric rate at risk of changing?
If you are leasing your panels, then you are at NOT AT RISK of having your electric rate changing on you, regardless of govenment incentives changing. So, if you signed up for free solar energy or a low rate, then you are guaranteed that for the total lease term. Congratulations.

Maintenance
Who covers solar maintenance?
If you are leasing your panels, maintenance is completely covered by your installer throughout the whole term of the lease. If you purchase your system, then you are responsible for maintenance. This encompasses either paying for solar insurance or paying for solar maintenance costs when needed.

Roofing
I would like to to get solar, but my roof needs to be repaired. Can I still proceed?
If you need roof work done, we recommend completing this prior to the solar installation. If you choose to package a roof project with a solar project, we can complete the roofing project at a discounted rate.
What if the solar panels cause roofing damage?
Our solar installers, detail in their installer agreement that any roofing damage incured by the solar panel installation is the sole responsibility of the installer for up to 5 years. More importantly, we only work with installers that have a
history of holding true to their word.

Cancellation
What if I want to remove the panels prior to the end of the lease?
At the end of the lease term, we remove the panels for free. However, if you wish to remove the panels before the end of the lease agreement, you can do so after 6 years, for a fee of roughly $150 per panel.

Other
What if I lease and I am selling my home?

What happens at the end of a solar lease?
